I am writing to inform you for the most exceptional customer service I have come across in a long time. Ms. Carter was very concerned about my financial aid situation and wanted to help. First, she took the time to listen to me rant and rave and then she went as far personally checking into the problem to see what she could to do help my daughter. Ms. Carter assured me that Kiara would be fine and it would all work out. And it did! I am most grateful for Ms. Carter. She gave me the reassurance I needed while Kiara is away for the next 4 years. I just wanted to drop a note saying how thankful I am that Ms. Carter truly went out of her way to help me in this very unsettling time.

Steve Cline , Auxiliary Services

During fall 2008 registration, Parking and Transportation had to find a different location to service their customers. There was no way that both offices (Parking & One Card) could have worked in the same location due to the volume of customers from both departments. Steve and his staff (Joe & Shawn) moved 5 computers over to the UC for the cashiers to use. They stayed over there the entire day (1st & 2nd day that is) to ensure that everything worked correctly. If something went wrong with a printer or computer, those guys stepped right in without hesitation. It really took the burden off my staff because Steve, Joe, and Shawn were there to handle any computer problem. I personally think them for supporting Parking and Transportation. They are awesome!!

Jed and Bethanie Brogdon, Tech Shop/Bookstore

I'm writing about two really great people: Jed and Bethanie Brogdon. This couple-individually-went out of their way to make my wife, my son and me extraordinary comfortable as our son, Rusty, processed into Valdosta State University! Jed, totally technically competent, set our fears to rest regarding Rusty's computer needs not only for the Mass Communication degree pursuit, but for a editing position this summer at home. And I saw him working with other students in a like manner, gentle and kind. Bethanie who manages your bookstore went so far as to open her kitchen to my son, and before we left, he was calling her "mom." Yet, she made us, the parents, really comfortable with assurances that Rusty will be well taken care of, not to mention that his books will be pulled and waiting for him on arrival in August. Please extend our gratitude to these wonderful people.

I would be remiss if I did not take the time to compliment your university regarding your staff member Ms. Kate Chappell. Ms. Chappell went out of her way to help me and assist me beyond expectation with my order. She provided pictures and was so extremely pleasant and helpful it was a stellar experience. She even followed up to make sure all arrived and to ensure I was happy with the selections. If my experience with Ms. Chappell is any indication of the type of university you have I am confident we have made the right choice for my daughter's education. Richard MacLaughlin, IT

He has been an absolute savior to me over the last couple of months with regards to my remote desktop. In February I purchased a new laptop computer only to find that my remote desktop did not work on it. Of course, this is the day that I'm scheduled to go out of town to present at a conference. IN a panic, I called IT and was put through to Richard. He was very patient with me as I explained my issues with my computer and my urgency related to the fact that I had to leave town within a matter of hours. He asked me to take my computer to him and once I did he was very prompt about getting it fixed for me. As Murphy's law would have it, I had issues with the remote desktop again when I was in Tampa the next day. Richard, again with a good spirit and big heart, went to the nursing bldg. on campus to work on my desktop while I sat at my laptop in the hotel room. He was very patient to work with me while we resolved the issue. Recently, I received a new computer in my office and for some reason this completely disabled my remote desktop at home. I had no doubt about who I was going to call and sure enough, within a matter of minutes he had walked me through fixing the problem. And I'm glad to report that I'm actually sending this email via my remote desktop thaks to Richard. I appreciate the professionalism and genuine kindness with which he does his work.

Ms. Kristi Soular, Alumni, Community, and Regional Relations

Helped me locate several past VSU employees that I wanted to know about. She used tact and professional by contacting the other party first and giving them the choice as to return my contact or not. Her ability to talk to people that brought great results is a true asset to this institution. Thank you, Kristi.

Dr. Chett Ballard, Dept of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice

I am a student from the late 1980's who was a resident assistant, played on the golf team and was involved in multiple clubs and activities. I now live I the Washington D.C. area. I majored in Criminal Justice and was lucky enough to be taught a few time by Dr. Ballard. Unfortunately as I was about to graduate, an error was found that I was 5 hours short of my requirements during my transfer from another school my freshman year I had missed a core lab. I blamed everyone but myself and left VSU planning on finishing my degree that year back in Atlanta. Move ahead 20 years! Life takes over and I still found myself short one class in completing my degree and contacted Dr. Ballard for his help. Little did I realize the changes that have happened over 20 years that would lead to an unbelievable number of road blocks. Quarters to Semesters, Catalog Changes. Without his tenacity and dedication to helping someone who failed to help themselves for over 20 years, I would not be as close as I am to reaching my goals and going further. I owe him more than this thank you, but wanted all to understand what he did for me. Thank you Dr. Ballard, I owe you more than you know.

Mr. James Black, Business and Finance

Before I describe the exceptional service performed by Dr. Black, I will provide a little background information. I first met Dr. Black in the Spring 2002, at the ""Partners for Campus Excellence"" seminar conducted by Continuing Education. He was a leader and as an Interim Department Head, I was a participant. Since that time, I probably ran into him a couple of times a year-he was always very nice and friendly, despite the differences in our employment positions. About three weeks ago, I was in quite dither and was searching for somebody with which to talk. I searched my brain for that perfect somebody that I believed to be objective, rational, genuine, sincere, intelligent, and insightful as well as somebody that recognizes human beings as vulnerable individuals. I searched my list of family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, etc. After about a day and a half, an image of Dr. Black popped into my head. I sent Dr. Black an e-mail requesting that he meet with me, not quite sure if he knew me by name and quite sure that given his position, he probably would not have time. On the other hand, having gone through the names of everybody I know, he was the ONLY one that fit my stated criteria. As I ""should"" have expected, he immediately responded with a welcoming message back. He offered words of encouragement that I will hold onto forever! He assured me that he would welcome a visit to his office; but, having sensed the ""confidential"" nature of my discussion with him, he also offered the alternative of an off-campus lunch meeting. We went to lunch and he was able to provide all the things I needed. Thank you Dr. Black, I am forever indebted to you!
