Additional Driver Training Requirement
The Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) Risk Management Division has released a safety video that addresses the responsibilities state employees have if they are involved in an automobile accident and safety issues while conducting state business. All state employees are being asked to view the video by March 1, 2008. The video is 12 minutes long. Click HERE to view. After viewing the video, you must complete the acknowledgement form on the same page. Please note: If you do not have flashplayer downloaded on your computer you will not be able to submit the form.  Two ways to correct this- download flashplayer onto your computer or download mozilla foxfire browser.

If you have already viewed the video and completed the acknowledgement form, you are not required to do so again.  DOAS Risk Management will be maintaining the list of state employees who have viewed the video. If you do not have internet access, arrangements can be made to view a DVD by contacting Kevin Boyd, Insurance Manager at 333-2160.

Utility Vehicle/Golf Cart Training
A new policy is in place that governs the operation of golf carts and utility vehicles that all employees including student employees operating these vehicles need to know. All employees driving these vehicles and their supervisors are required to attend a training session to communicate the responsibilities and regulations essential to safe driving. Some of the new elements in the policy include:

  • All drivers must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • The department to which the vehicle belongs must be clearly identified on the cart.
  • The areas in which vehicles can be driven and parked must be observed.
  • Drivers must follow the accident reporting process.

A class is now available online through WebCT. To register for the online course click HERE.
