space management council
The Space Management Council is a component of the university strategic planning process. It is responsible for the effective utilization of space to support the university student centered learning environment. Comprehensive space planning at Valdosta State University integrates the guidance and contribution of University faculty and staff representing many campus departments. Areas of expertise from the university master plan, physical space inventory, physical facility database, engineering, plant operations, strategic research and analysis, and academic /administrative departments all have input into the discussion, evaluation and solution of space issues. A means to evaluate facility and space requests has been provided through the university strategic planning process. Departments have an opportunity to identify their facility and space needs through the initiative function in the planning database. Once the initiatives are compiled, a planning council composed of facility knowledgeable people take into account all factors within the facilities environment and make recommendations regarding the best course of action.
