2009 State Charitable Contributions Program

Help Turn Lives Around - Give From the Heart

Dear Faculty and Staff,

On October 6, 2008, Valdosta State University kicked off the 2008 State Charitable Contributions Program (SCCP), which will run through November 30th. We hope that by now you have received your envelope with the Campaign Materials for this year from your department SCCP representative. This is your chance to help out many of those agencies that have really been hit hard by the strain on their limited resources.

During the last year, we have witnessed the significant, ever lifesaving, work undertaken by Charitable agencies in the time of crisis. No less significant is the work done by charities seeking cures for disease, feeding the hungry caring for the abused, and mentoring at risk youth. This is your opportunity to make a difference beyound your service to VSU.

In time s of budget cuts and economic strain charitable organizations that rely on public donations are the first to feel the pinch. Valdosta State University continues to model the way for others in our region to follow. Please join us in reaching our goal of surpassing $33000 in donations for the first time in our school history. We have been very close the last few years but have come up a little short. So let's make it happen this year!

What is SCCP anyway?

The State Charitable Program was established in 1982 by the Georgia General Assembly, authorizing an organized annual campaign to allow state employees to make charitable financial contributions. This allows you to give a one-time pledge and help hundreds of different groups. The list of agencies and programs that have been approved by the state of Georgias to receive funds from the SCCP is a lenghthy one. You can locate those in the Greater Valdosta Area at the top of column seven in the SCCP brochure. You can donate to one or many.

How Should I Donate?

You have two options.

Direct Payment: Cash, check, or money orders.
Payroll Deduction: Bi-weekly or Monthly

Place the appropriate form and donation (if direct payment) in the pre-addressed envelop provided and send through inner-campus mail. It will go directly to Yvonne Le Roy-Landers, the office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration. As an employee of the State, you will receive an acknowledgement of your gift for tax purposes.

Deborah Robson and Yvonne Le Roy-Landers are your VSU representatives. Either of us would be happy to answer questions, so don’t hesitate to call or send an email. Please don’t put this off --act now! We have set a target date to collect all packets by November 30th. If you are unsure who your team captain or department representative is or have questions on filling out your form, email Deborah Robson at dcrobson@valdosta.edu, Theresa Boyd at thboyd@valdosta.edu, or Yvonne Le Roy-Landers at ybleroylanders@valdosta.edu.

On behalf of everyone who will benefit from your gift, we thank you for your generosity and hope you have a great New Semester! Imagine the possibilities. With over 1200 employees at VSU just think of what we can accomplish together!

Best Wishes,
Deborah Robson and Yvonne Le Roy-Landers
