Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
The ADA has a wealth of information concerning the Act and its provisions.  Additionally, the ADA has “Standards for Accessible Design” which may be useful when designing new spaces for multiple potential consumers or when requesting reasonable accommodations.

Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (BOR)
The BOR governs all public colleges and universities (approximately 35 institutions) within the University System of Georgia.  All BOR policies pertain to Valdosta State University (VSU).  Information concerning BOR meetings, initiatives, statistics and reports are all relevant. The Environmental Health and Safety section has news and events, guidelines and regulatory information, forms, and training opportunities.

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)
The U.S. Department of Labor BLS has a myriad of data and research related to work settings including, but not limited to, employment and unemployment, safety and health, productivity, wages earnings and benefits, business costs, and regional specific information.

Georgia Government
This website gives online access to Georgia governmental information.  Sections are dedicated to business and employment, education and training, family and health, government, and legal and public issues, to name a few.  Several online resources are also available with a variety of pertinent forms, such as income tax paperwork.  The State of Georgia Law Library has a searchable library of online resources.  Additionally, the State Bar of Georgia has a related website with employer specific information.

Human Factors & Ergonomics Society (HFES)
The HFES is an organization for professionals interested in ergonomic, safety, and human factors aspects of system design and usability.  Individuals interested in safety and ergonomics can find information about the group’s history, membership requirements, recent research, and professional Standards.  A career center and consultant directory is also available.  Additionally, October is National Ergonomics Month.

National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH)
The Department of Health and Human Services - Center for Disease Control (CDC) hosts the NIOSH website.  Data and statistics concerning safety and risk prevention, hazards and injuries, and occupation specific information are available.  Additionally, their Ergonomics and Musculoskeletal Disorders section is useful.
