Jim Muzzey, Assistant Director for Campus Services has over twenty-five years in plant operations. He has considerable management and work experience in the custodial, maintenance, construction, and grounds areas. He comes to us from Clearwater, Florida where he worked twenty years in his field for the Pinellas County School System. He is a graduate of St. Petersburg Junior College and has completed many additional courses in management, plant operations, computer science, and business. Since moving to the Valdosta area his positions have included Irrigation Technician and Custodial Forman for Valdosta State University as well as Maintenance Director for Lowndes County Health Services. He became Director of Custodial Services in 1998.
Mission Statement
Campus Services is a division of the Valdosta State University Plant Operations Department. Our mission is to provide a clean and sanitary environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors. It is our intent to achieve this without disrupting the normal flow of campus activities. We are a very happy customer oriented group.
Introduction
On our beautiful campus, we presently service all of the academic and office areas as well as the sports complexes and some of the common areas. We have two shifts totaling fifty eight people who provide service for approximately one million square feet of campus. In addition, we furnish limited weekend custodial service to these areas. Our specialized project crew maintains the hard floors and shampoos the carpets in most of our areas with the remainder maintained by the respective shifts. We routinely assist with set-ups and provide custodial coverage for the many sporting and other special events. Work orders for emergencies or routine requests may be submitted through Work Management at 333-4860 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please contact Public Safety for any after hours emergencies.
