President Establishes VSU Climate Council
After reviewing the charter of the proposed Climate Council with all constituent groups on campus, VSU President, Patrick Schloss implemented a Climate Council to review the requirements of the Campus Climate Commitment and propose a structure moving VSU campus toward becoming climate neutral. The faculty senate, COSA, student government, Dean’s Council and university council, received the outline for the proposed council and the opportunity to make changes to the proposed organization or purpose. All these groups were also asked to participate by providing membership to the Climate Council.
The first meeting of the climate council was held in December 2008. At this meeting subcommittees were formed and coordinators chosen for each subcommittee.
Although subcommittees have started to meet on a regular basis, anyone in the university community is welcome to join a subcommittee and participate in the process.
