Division Name Change
Frequently Asked Questions from division staff:
1. Why are we changing the division name to Finance and Administration?
a. The name "Finance and Administration" is keeping with a current national standard in higher education. The word "Business" suggests a trade occupation, a commercial or private enterprise. The word "Administration" is more descriptive of the division's overall responsibility. " Finance" was chosen as the first word to emphasize the critical nature of this function.
2. Will we have to re-order stationary, note cards, envelopes, forms to reflect the new division name change?
a. The guideline is to use up the current pre-printed paper stock items like stationary, note cards, envelopes. When you need to re-order, make sure the new division name replaces the old Business & Finance name.
3. What about business cards and name badges?
a. These should be remade to carry the Finance and Administration name as soon as possible.
4. We have electronic formatted business letterhead, fax transmittal sheets, forms that contain the division name. How soon should these items be changed?
a. Immediately! Schedule the reformatting of these items with Jeff Grant, Graphic Designer. He has the Finance and Administration divisional template for all its departments.
5. What is being done to the divisional web pages to reflect the name change?
a. During the week of October 10 2005, the old name will be replaced with the new name Finance & Administration. Komwich Charusorn will be responsible for the Vice President's home page, the Construction project pages , Human Resources, Business Services and Budget Advisory Council websites. Steve Cline is responsible for the Auxiliary Services web pages. Charles Harmon will cover the university home page. The URL will change from "http://www.valdosta.edu/businessfinance/" to "http://www.valdosta.edu/finadmin/" .
b. Past articles, events, information, catalogues calendars published on the web before the name change will continue to reflect the old division name of Business and Finance since this name was in effect at the time the information was published.
