CLASSIFIED STAFF SALARY MODEL

VSU currently has a pay plan that consists of pay grades 10- 38.

We are moving to a new pay plan that consists of new pay grades 11-47 each with new minimum pay ranges. There will no longer be a pay grade 10.

This is phase one of a multi-year project.

We currently have 165 people who are below the minimum salary levels of the new pay grades in 11 through 16 and they will be touched first. They include such titles as Custodial Worker and Sr Secretary.

We have been able to allocate $300,000 this fiscal year to assist these 165 employees.

These people will see their salary increase retroactive to January 1, 2007.

Each fiscal year we hope to be able to put aside an equivalent sum of money to continue to bring those employees who are below the new minimums of the pay ranges up to that new minimum amount.

Employees who are hired from 3/1 to 7/1 in the new pay grades of 11-16 will see their salaries increase to the new minimums on July 1, 2007.

The new proposed pay ranges for pay grades 17 and above will be phased in with each new adjustment.
