Memo: Open Enrollment, Salaries, & Tuition Assistance Program
Memo To: VSU Faculty, Staff and Retirees
From: L. Inman Grimsley, Director of H.R. & Employee Development
Date: October 11, 2004
Re: Open Enrollment, Misc. Items
OPEN ENROLLMENTThe annual open enrollment for certain University benefit programs will be October 12 through November 12, 2004, for the Plan Year beginning January 1, 2005. Informational packets and insurance confirmation letters will be placed in intercampus mail today. You are urged to review your programs of insurance and contact the Human Resources Insurance office if you note discrepancies or have questions regarding the information provided.
Retiree packets will be mailed as soon as we are able to print premium invoices. As most of you know, we have experienced difficulty with the retiree insurance billing program since converting to the new version of Peoplesoft. This is a system problem and not that of Valdosta State University. Retirees are encouraged to continue to remit their normal monthly premium to maintain your account in current status.
STAFF SALARY CONFIRMATIONS
Salary confirmation letters for staff employees should be placed in intercampus mail this week. Employees having received promotions or changes in positions will not receive a confirmation letter in that they received individual letters upon the change in their status/salary. While we make every effort to verify the information contained in these letters, please contact your supervisor should you feel an error has been made. The merit increase component, where applicable, will become effective January 1, 2005.
TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Tuition Remission and Reimbursement program has been completely revamped and is now known as the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). The deadline for the Spring Semester is November 15 and this is now a system wide date. New policies and procedures have been approved by the Board of Regents and participants in the program are encouraged to review the revised information. Additionally, new forms are also required, bringing some additional standardization to the program. The reimbursement of tuition is no longer an option as enrollment is within University System units. This information is available at Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). A permanent link to this information will be placed on the Human Resources and Employee Development website.
