EXPRESS SCRIPTS
Below is a copy of the letter with an update on actions taken by ESI to address the Security Breach that occurred in November 2008. Approximately 6500 Board of Regents employees were impacted by the breach. Only those employees impacted will begin receiving the attached letter from ESI this week. In addition to the attached letter, you may also get additional information from the following website: www.esisupports.com
Here are the key points:
• The data security breach was of Express Scripts IT systems.
• The data security breach did NOT involve any USG IT systems.
• Approximately 6,500 USG employees were among the Express Script subscribers with data compromised.
• To date, we are not aware of a single USG employee being a victim of identity theft as a result of this data breach.
• Express Scripts has done an excellent job to date of dealing with this issue in terms of (the authorities) and communicating to those affected.
• The communications by Express Scripts to USG employees affected is of a standard that does not require the USG to communicate to these individuals.
• The USG no longer uses Express Scripts.
• The account was bid out through the RFP process, resulting in MedCo receiving the bid. The security breach had nothing to do with our changing from Express Scripts to Medco.
