Direct Deposit of Excess Checks
VSU offers students direct deposit of excess financial aid. We offer this service to all VSU students who would like to have their excess or refund amount automatically deposited into their personal checking (not savings) account. VSU will send the student an advice telling him/her how much the University deposited into the account and on what date.
Direct Deposit Guidelines:
- Turn in a completed Direct Deposit form (original form only, faxed copies will not be processed), which can be printed using the link below. In addition, a voided check must be submitted with the completed form. We are unable to accept counter or starter checks, credit card checks, or deposit slips to establish direct deposit of your excess financial aid funds
.
- If you don’t use checks, a letter from the bank on bank letterhead stating your routing and account number will suffice.
- To be included on Direct Deposit for the 1st disbursement of the semester, Direct Deposit form and voided check must be turned in by the published Direct Deposit deadline date. After this, it takes 2 weeks to be confirmed on direct deposit from the time we process the form and check.
- You will stay on Direct Deposit from one semester to the next until you notify us in writing to cancel it.
- If you notify us of a change of accounts or banks, it takes 2 weeks to pre-note the new information. If you forget to notify us, it can take up to 2 additional weeks for the bank to return your money to us and for us to mail it out in the form of a check.
- If you want your excess deposited into your parent’s account, please send a written authorization stating this with your signature as well as the direct deposit form and check.
- It is possible you will be removed from Direct Deposit should you have a break in attendance. Please call us for verification at 1-800-618-1878 ext 6 or 1- 229-333-5725.
