The seventh annual Staff Appreciation day opened to a beautiful sunny fall day in Valdosta Georgia. Laughter seemed to fill the air as over 400 of Valdosta State University's staff employees gathered for its day of picnic and fun. The Council on Staff Affairs (COSA) sponsored the event which is devoted to honor and celebrate the presence and dedication of staff employees in the campus community.
The event lasted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a presentation of the colors at 12:15 by the university's Air Force ROTC. Information and display booths were set up by many organizations with representatives available to answer employee questions. The Lowndes County Sheriff's Department demonstrated teaching drills from its Canine Training Program. Other activities included a Bar-B-Q cookout, door prizes, cake walk and line dancing.
"I am pleased with the turn out," Bobby Flowers COSA chairperson said. "Everyone seems to be having fun." COSA sells Staff Appreciation T-shirts as a fund raising event. Proceeds from the T-shirt sales are used to fund future COSA program activities.
