The Division's Leadership Team gathered on November 5 to attend a professional leadership development workshop conducted by Dr. David McFarland of Penson Associates. The seminar provided a forum for +50 directors, supervisors, managers 1) to learn the art of creating a positive work environment 2) to understand the dynamics of leadership and best team practices. Challenged with break out discussion groups, the team developed a B/F Best Team Characteristics list. They explored best attitudes on the job, being present with other people and different ways to "make my day". They learned the components of what leadership is all about and the ingredients to build an effective team. Dr. Ron Zaccari, President of VSU, surprised the group with a motivational talk about being a leader in the university community. McFarland, a former university President and experienced professional consultant, summarized the day long interaction with this quote: " Leadership is not about your rank in the organization. It is about building relationships." Photos
