Week Of May 2 - Betty Lloyd's 35 Years Service

Congratulations to Betty Lloyd who received a standing ovation from over 200 VSU staff employees as she received a 35 year service certificate from President Ronald Zaccari. Betty is an accounting clerk with the Financial Services department and was honored at the annual COSA service luncheon on April 26, 2005.

Betty

Betty shares some of her early work experiences: “I started to work in October 1969. There were only three of us in financial support services. One clerk in accounts payable, the other in payroll and I handled all the reports. We worked out of a small classroom above the Biology department in Nevins Hall. My primary office machine was a Burroughs E6000 and I hand wrote all my reports on a multi column paper ledger. We were a very small staff then, but we were like family. If you had a problem we all chipped in to help each other out. We still help each other out, but the family has grown and the changing technology constantly redefines our job. I’ve always enjoyed the colleagues I work with.” Traycee Martin, Director of Financial Services tells us “Betty is a wonderful person. She is very conscientious and makes sure every detail is perfect and right. She is dependable, always here to help – in fact, we have to ‘beat her’ to take vacation leave (smile). She is committed to her responsibilities and the people she interacts with”.

Best wishes to Betty Lloyd, a dedicated employee on the job for 35 years whose bright smile still shines in Financial Services.
