The European Council
The European Council is one of four regional councils
operating under the auspices of the System Council for
International Education of the University System of Georgia.
(For more information on the other three councils of the USG,
contact the Board of Regents' Office of International
Education)
Membership in the European Council is open to all University
System of Georgia colleges and universities. Institutions
appoint campus representatives to the council, and these
representatives coordinate council activities at their
institutions. Other faculty, staff, or administrators are
welcomed to attend council meetings. For more information
about council activities or meetings, contact the appropriate
institutional representative on the
EC Campus Representatives
and Members List. To foster greater understanding and
appreciation of the cultures and societies of Europe, the
European Council sponsors a variety of activities and programs
for faculty, institutions.
Summer Study Abroad Programs
The European Council sponsors large summer study programs for
USG students in major locations in Europe, including
St.
Petersburg,
Bonn,
Madrid,
Paris,
Waterford and
London. In courses taught
largely by faculty from USG colleges and universities,
students blend classroom experiences with group and
individual travel as they earn academic credit at their home
institutions. These programs bring together students and
faculty from across Georgia to share in four or five week
intensive learning and travel ventures.
Student Exchange with the University of Northumbria in England
The European Council coordinates semester or year-long
exchanges between students at Georgia universities and the
University of Northumbria in Newcastle, England. This exchange
enables students to earn a semester or academic year's worth
of credit while living and studying in one of England's most
exciting and student-oriented cities.
International Student Exchange
Programs
ISEP is a network of 265 colleges and universities in 38
countries cooperating to provide affordable access to
international education for a diverse student population. ISEP
students gain intercultural competence through integration
into their host institution and host culture while exploring
the international dimensions of their academic field. ISEP
offers students two options: ISEP-Exchanges: reciprocal
exchange among ISEP Member institutions. Exchanges are between
US and International Members, or between Member institutions
outside the U.S (International-to-International). ISEP-Direct:
study abroad programs at ISEP Member institutions open to
students from ISEP Member and Affiliate institution
