Welcome, everyone, to Upward Bound! Founded in 1965, Upward Bound is a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. It is an educational program designed to develop the skills and motivation necessary for student success in education beyond high school. Valdosta State University has received this grant and is giving 9th and 10th grade Valdosta High School students the opportunity to participate.
Upward Bound program consists of two phases: the Summer Program component and the Academic Year component. From June 23rd until August 1st, participants will spend six weeks on VSU’s campus to expose them to college education including travel to other locations for cultural and recreational activities. For upcoming 10th graders, two of these weeks, July 7th-11th and July 14th-18th, will include residential living in VSU’s Reade Hall. Residents will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner during these two weeks.
