  • PhD, Duke University, 1989

  • Author of articles on Toni Morrison, Henry David Thoreau, Scott Turow, and Carl Hiaasen and such films as Double Indemnity, Body Heat, Blade Runner, Citizen Kane, and The Moderns .

  • Her chapter "Novels and Other Fictional Accounts" appeared in The American Civil War: A Handbook of Literature and Research .

  • Author of the Introduction to the University of Nebraska's reprinting of John DeForest's Civil War novel, Miss Ravenel's Conversion from Secession to Loyalty .

  • Wrote Instructor's Manual sections for HarperCollins World Reader on The Early Americas, The United States, and Australia/New Zealand. Her publications and papers reflect her interest in nineteenth- and twentieth-century American literature, film, and American Civil War literature.
