World Health Organization Declares H1N1 a Global Pandemic (Posted June 11, 2009)

H1N1 Updates (May 4, 2009)

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have confirmed cases of H1N1 in the United States. Valdosta State University health officials and administrators continue to monitor national, state and local developments regarding H1N1. Updated information will be posted on this page as available and circumstances warrant. University officials encourage the campus community to seek immediate medical attention if you experience “flu-like” symptoms and avoid close contact with other people. The CDC recommends the following actions to stay healthy:

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

  • Stay home if you get sick and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
