Mission Statement

The English Language Institute of Valdosta State University endeavors to provide high-quality English instruction and a learning experience for our students that is meaningful and productive.

    The ELI seeks to accomplish the following specific goals:

    • Develop our students' linguistic, academic, and professional skills.

    • Equip students who are studying English for academic purposes with the academic English skills and academic skills and strategies they need to be successful university students.

    • Provide students with the cultural knowledge and awareness they need to successfully function in the United States.

    • Inform our students of the many opportunities for academic study at Valdosta State University and encourage them to consider applying for admission.

    • Recruit international students to the VSU campus to promote and develop international education opportunities for American and international students.

    • Encourage cross-cultural engagement, appreciation, and understanding through student interaction.
