Expectations
The Georgia Board of Regents has a Web page that describes some of the things you can expect from your eCore® experience. Follow this link for additional information.
Time
Expect to spend more time on an eCore® class than you would a conventional class, simply because you are essentially managing the material. No in-class lecture time means you are responsible for getting the material on your own.
Time Management
You must be able to manage your time and be diligent in mastering material and completing assigned tasks. Without the routine of going to a classroom to keep you on task, you must do so on your own.
Real Time vs. Asynchronous Time Classroom
A traditional classroom format is a real time experience. Everyone is in the same place at the same time. When you ask the professor a question, the next thing that happens is his/her response.
The majority of your eCore® time is asynchronous. You, your classmates and your professor may all be online at different times. When you ask a question in an eCore® class, your answer may be cushioned between family time, sleep, commute, etc. and you may not receive your answer until the following day.
