Desire2Learn is here! The University System of Georgia has chosen Desire2Learn as the new learning management system for all institutions. Valdosta State University has tentative plans to transition late 2013.
This Desire2Learn (D2L) event is exclusively designed for faculty members, LMS Administrators and Technology Staff who will use D2L as their learning management system.

Teaching in Desire2Learn: Getting Started with Building Engaging Course Spaces
During this discussion, we will share how best to address your common teaching challenges using the new Desire2Learn learning management system, with an emphasis on the transition from your Vista course environment. We will demonstrate ways for you to build an appealing & easy-to-navigate course site, to more deeply engage your students through rich collaborative tools and to better monitor your students’ learning through powerful assessment tools. Demonstrated features will include:
- Course customization features

- Journals
- Assignments

- Test & quizzes
- Performance Dashboard & Grade Center
Teaching in D2L: Going Beyond the Basics
During this discussion, we will dive more deeply into how to implement good principles of teaching through the use of a D2L course site. More specifically we will discuss & demonstrate:
- How to best chose which collaboration feature best fits a teaching & learning activity (i.e. when do I use the discussion board vs. journal vs. blog vs. wiki?)
- Utilizing a course wiki to foster student interaction and promote knowledge sharing/building
- Gathering valuable insight into student performance through use of the Early Warning System, Performance Dashboard and Grace Center
- Developing engaging content & personalized learning paths through learning modules, adaptive release and review status functionality
- Open forum for other questions
