BlazeVIEWValdosta State University uses BlazeVIEW (BlackBoard Vista 8) as an online course management system. Although your classes may not be scheduled to be taught online, you will find that using BlazeVIEW as a course management system is very efficent. With BlazeVIEW you can post your syllabus, have an online drop box for your assignments, allow students to download lecture notes, get all of your students to participate in online class discussions, schedule online quizes and exams, and much more. |
Clickers (Student Response System)
With Clickers, every student in class can respond to questions asked by the instructor. This makes it possible for faculty to evaluate student learning and comprehension as content is being presented. There are two main ways to use Clickers in your classroom. 1) During a presentation or lecture, and 2) For Self Paced Testing (Clickers can be used instead of scantron sheets).

CommuniCoach
CommuiCoach is a Video Evaluation tool used by the College of Education. After students upload their videos, Instructors can assess performance by adding feedback directly to video segments. Feedback can then be reviewed and processed much more efficiently and meaningfully by students; with the click of the mouse, students can view the video segment to which the feedback refers.

Respondus (Create Assessments for BlazeVIEW and Traditional Classes)
Respondus is a Windows application that enhances the functions and features of BlazeVIEW's quiz, survey, and self-test tools. Respondus allows you to author quizzes offline, import existing questions from a word processing file, and publish the quizzes directly to your BlazeVIEW course. The application can be used to manage and print multiple versions of your test for face to face courses.

SafeAssignSafeAssign is “a plagiarism prevention service" that works with VSU's BlazeVIEW course management system. This service helps educators prevent plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content in student papers. Second Life
Second Life is like a 3-D web site expanded into a virtual world. As an instructor, you can create activities and interactive, immersive simulations that are simply impossible in a “regular” classroom. In Second Life your students can explore re-creations of real world places, simulations of events in the human body, engage in dialog with people from other countries, and much more while they have the feeling of "being there."

Studymate (Create Study Games for Students)
StudyMate is an authoring tool that lets you create 10 types of Flash-based activities and games using three simple templates. This tool allows you to publish your activities directly to your BlazeVIEW course.
