TENTATIVE TIMELINE
Between now and June 2009: Prep time
- Move as many multi-media files off of the current server to the VSU Cinema Server (See Media Services), as these will be most problematic.
January 2009
- BlazeVIEW (Vista 8 ) Test Server online.
- Testing of Section Migration to BlazeVIEW environment
February 2009
- BlazeVIEW (Vista 8) Training Server online.
- Power User Preview of BlazeVIEW
- Intro to Vista 8 Workshops: Online Lifeline Conference
March 2009
- BlazeVIEW Production Server online (Summer 2009 courses will be hosted on this server.)
Intro to Vista 8 Workshops - Faculty/Student Help Sections Created
- Hands-on Training & Migration begins for Online Courses
- Migration of your existing sections to BlazeVIEW server will be an option in most cases.
You may prefer to take this opportunity to rebuild your course to take advantage of
new tools— it’s a good time to clean out old/ unused files and reorganize.
In some cases, a complete rebuild of the course will be required.
In all cases, some updating of migrated sections will be required as there is not a
complete one-to-one correspondence between the tools in Vista 3 and the tools in Vista 8
- Migration of your existing sections to BlazeVIEW server will be an option in most cases.
- BlazeVIEW workshops open to all faculty.
April 2009
- One-on-one migration assistance available, as well as weekly drop-in sessions in the HUB.
Emphasis on migrating Summer 2009 courses. We will also be working on Fall 09 courses.
May 2009
- Intensive effort to move any remaining Summer 09 courses to BlazeVIEW
June 2009
- Go live with Summer 2009 courses and proceed with migration of fall course….etc.
- Students will be restricted from the WebCT Vista 3 server
—All live courses will be delivered from BlazeVIEW - Faculty access to the WebCT Vista 3 server will continue for migration and archive purposes
June 2010
- Old WebCT Vista 3 server will be archived—no faculty access.
