Plagiarism Revealed (Turnitin)
The Board of Regents present a series of two System-wide webcasts on plagiarism detection issues featuring presentations by a USG instructor and staff from Advanced Learning Technologies and the Office of Legal Affairs. In this presentation Bob Brown, Lecturer, Information Technology, Southern Polytechnic State University discussed his experience with plagiarism in the classroom, using Turnitin and other mechanisms to deter plagiarism, and ways to create plagiarism resistant assignments.

Detecting Plagiarism (Turnitin)

In this presentation Ms. Liz Johnson, Project Manager, Advanced Learning Technologies briefly reviewed plagiarism detection solutions and summarized the results of the 2006 USG Turnitin survey. Mr. J. Burns Newsome, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Legal Affairs, University System of Georgia addressed the primary legal questions relating to the use of plagiarism detection services: Does Turnitin infringe upon student intellectual property rights by adding student papers to their database? Do plagiarism detection services observe FERPA regulations when a student submits a paper?
