Step-by-Step Guide for New VSU/GOML Students

Have you recently been admitted to one of the new, VSU-Georgia On My Line (GOML) graduate programs?  Are you trying to figure out what to do next?  This page is designed to guide you through your next steps, assist you in accessing the various systems you will use, and provide you with resources available to you as a student.

As a newly admitted VSU/GOML student you will receive a notification of Quick Admission approval via email.

I received my Quick Admit approval e-mail.  What do I do now?

Step #1: Make note of the following three very important pieces of information. You will need to complete steps 2 through 7 of this guide. This information can be found in your Quick Admit E-mail:

1.     VSU BlazeNet e-mail address
2.     Academic advisor’s name and contact information
3.     VSU Student Identification Number (9-digit number at the bottom of your e-mail beginning with ‘870’)

Step #2: Log into your VSU BlazeNet E-mail Account

<< View Step by Step Demo >>

Your BlazeNet e-mail address is the official means of communication from VSU faculty and staff, and your address will serve as your username for other GOML systems.  Your BlazeNet e-mail address was included in your Quick Admit Approval E-mail.  In some cases your advisor may have already sent an e-mail to your BlazeNet account, but if not, you need to initiate contact with your advisor using this account.

You are expected to check your VSU BlazeNet e-mail on a regular basis. Important announcements and information will ONLY be sent to this e-mail address and failure to check this e-mail address does not excuse you from abiding by instructions and information sent this way (ex: fee payment deadlines &/or program specific announcements).

To access your BlazeNet email:

  • Visit the VSU homepage http://www.valdosta.edu  and select the BlazeNet link on the left hand side of the screen.
  • To log into the BlazeNet system for the first time, enter your username and PIN which is your 6-digit birth date using
  • 2-digit year (MMDDYY).
You should change your PIN to a password you can remember upon your first system log in.

**Trouble logging into or accessing your BlazeNet E-mail Account?  Submit a help request at http://www.valdosta.edu/helpdesk/ or call the VSU HelpDesk at (229) 245-4357.

Step #3: Review the email from your academic advisor.

Advising emails are sent to student's VSU Blazenet Email Accounts by their advisors. These are usually sent just before registration opens for a term. These emails will give you an overview of your course options for the upcoming term.

Step #4: Make note of your VSU Student Identification Number

All GOML students who declare VSU as their home institution are issued a VSU Student ID or “870 Number”.  This number serves in place of your Social Security Number, must be used in communications with VSU faculty and staff, and is your Username for the Fee Payment System.  You can find this number at the bottom of your Quick Admit Approval E-mail.

To look up your Student ID:

  • Visit http://www.valdosta.edu/it/eas/sis/  and select the VSU ID Lookup.
  • Enter and submit the requested information, and your Student ID number will be provided. Make a note of this number and commit it to memory.

Trouble obtaining your ID Number? If you have problems with your ‘870’ Student ID Number please contact the VSU Office of the Registrar at (229) 333-5727 or by e-mail registrar@valdosta.edu.

Step #5: GOML Course Registration System

<< View Step by Step Demo >>

Once you are admitted to your GOML program, you will complete registration for classes via the GOML Course  Registration System.  This registration system supports University System of Georgia Collaborative Programs and  is completely independent from the Banner Registration System used for other VSU programs. It may take up to 5 business days for you to receive access to this system.  If you have difficulty logging in, please check that you are using the correct information (listed below) and allow up to 5 days to obtain system access.

To log into the GOML Course Registration system for the first time:

  • Username: VSU BlazeNet e-mail address in its entirety (astudent@valdosta.edu)
  • Password: 8-digit birthday using 4-digit year (MMDDYYYY).

**Trouble with the GOML Registration System? Submit a help request at http://www.georgiaonmyline.org/contact.

 Step #6: Pay your fees.

<< View Step by Step Demo >>

Since VSU is your home institution, you will pay for your GOML courses through the VSU Banner-Fee Payment System.  Please allow up to 2 business days after you complete your GOML Course Registration for your course schedule and tuition due, to reflect in the Banner System.

To log into the Banner System:

  • Username: VSU Student ID Number (‘870’ Number)
  • PIN: 6-digit birthday using 2-digit year (MMDDYY).

If you applied for Financial Aid, you need to contact the Office of Financial Aid for information on disbursement.  The Financial Aid website is http://www.valdosta.edu/financialaid/ or call (229) 333-5935. Students are responsible for ensuring financial aid coverage or making payment arrangements with the VSU Bursary. Students whose fees are not paid or for whom arrangements have not been made by the fee payment deadline will be dropped from classes.  The Bursary’s website is http://www.valdosta.edu/finadmin/financial/student.shtml or call (229) 333-5725.

**Trouble logging into the Fee Payment System? Contact the Office of the Registrar at (229) 333-5727 or by e-mail registrar@valdosta.edu.

The GOML online courses use the GeorgiaVIEW Vista System for course delivery.  You will be able to log into your classes on the first day of class (see GOML Calendar).  Please note: the GeorgiaVIEW Vista System for GOML programs can only be accessed using the link below.  This system will serve as the hub for your GOML courses.  Here you will attend class, correspond with your classmates and professors, check your grades and much more.

To log into your online courses:

  • Username: BlazeNet e-mail address in its entirety (astudent@valdosta.edu)
  • Password: 8-digit birthday using 4-digit year (MMDDYYYY).
** The log-in information for the GOML Registration System & the GeorgiaVIEW system is the same; however, these are separate systems.  You will need to use your Birthday Password on your first log in, into each system.
