Curriculum Vita

My educational training in criminal justice started in Taiwan, an island located in Southeast Asia and is similar to the size of West Virginia. I studied four years in a police university to complete a baccalaureate degree in law and then served three years as a police officer in Taiwan. In 1982, I came to the United States to study for my MS degree in justice studies at Arizona State University. I moved to Maryland in 1985 to pursue my doctoral degree in criminal justice. At the University of Maryland-College Park, I learned a variety of statistical techniques, and worked for a data management project sponsored by the National Institute of Justice. The academic training and analytical experience I received there equipped me with the fundamental skills I needed to become a teacher and social scientist.

At Valdosta State, I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, methods, law enforcement, and cybercrime. My stream of publications has involved empirical research in areas of police-community relations and crimes across nations. My recent interests include cyber deviance, delinquent dropouts, and police cultures. I welcome students, colleagues, professionals, and friends to contact me for exchanges of thoughts in our common interests. Coffee and tea are my favorite drinks.
