The COSA meeting was called to order at 8:35 a.m.
Special Order of the Day:
All the newly elected members were introduced and all the members still on the board were introduced to the new members. Everyone was welcome. The newly elected members are Alan Bernstein-Odum Library, LaRona McClain-Grants & Contracts/CE, Tommye Miller-VSU Bookstore, Shannon McGee-One Card, Kae Sinkule-Palms Dining Center, Sammy Dees (re-elected)-Admissions, Richard Fiffie-Physical Plant, Pearl Everett-Physical Plant, and Lisa Hayes-Physical Plant. After this the members whom term was over were given certificates for their service to COSA. We would like to thank each one of you for everything that you contributed to COSA.
The election for new executive board members; Pat Rozier ran for Chairperson of COSA, no one else elected to run, it was voted on and she won. Debi Britt ran for Vice Chairperson, no one elected to run, it was voted on and she won. Tommye Miller ran for Secretary, no one else elected to run, it was voted on and she won. Ruth Salter said she would run for Parliamentarian, no one else elected to run, it was voted on and she won. Nina Windham said she would run again for Treasurer, no one else elected to run, it was voted on and she won. The new Public Relation person will be shared by Ann Farmer and Debi Britt this was voted on and it was agreed for them to share this position.
Approval of Minutes:
The last minutes had the wrong date, April 11 it should have been May 9, with this correction the minutes were approved.

Committee Reports
Elections-
Holly Decker reported that in Academic Affairs 145 ballots were mailed out 58 ballots were returned which was 40%. Business & Finance 324 ballots were mailed out 88 ballots were returned which was 27%. EEO 3 Area 92 ballots were mailed out 27 ballots were returned which was 29%. EEO 6 Area 60 ballots were mailed out 15 ballots returned which was 25%. EEO 7 Area 165 ballots were mailed out 22 ballots were returned which was 13%. So you can see how much the staff members on campus voted.
Employee Recognition- No Report
Policies/By-Laws- Pat Rozier handed out the newly revised By-Laws to all the members present.
Welfare- Hilda Spell, Chair, reported that the Retirement Walkway fund now has $959.32 as of June 6, 2000. We have also found someone here in Valdosta to come on site to inscribed the bricks that are in place and they will nothave to be taken up and replaced. We do not have a price for this service as of yet. The Retirement Walkway will be on the Annual Giving campaign thisyear so think about giving to the Retirement Walkway. There are still some items needing to be address about the eligibility of being able to receive a brick. These should be presented to the committee to see what can be done.
Recycling- Debi reported that for now we still do not know who the Chair will bee.
Salary Study-
Reports from the Chair: Debi Britt and Pat Rozier will be going with Bill Filtz to Macon State College for the University System of Georgia Staff Council meeting June 16, 2000 at 10:00 a. m.
Anyone with any ideas for the COSA newsletter let Debi or Ann Farmer know.
We need to form a committee for the next Staff Day we need many volunteers. We need to have fundraisers to help raise money to help fund this event. The committee members for Staff Day are Debi Britt, Holly Decker, Pat Rozier, Lisa Hayes, Sammy Dees, LaRona McClain, Shannon McGee, Kae Sinkule, Ann Lacey, Ruth Salter, Pearl Everett and any else who would like to help. The first meeting will be held on June 20, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Conference Room #1 upstairs/University Union.
Old Business
Inman Grimsley send out an email June 8, 2000 it covered the following changes in Blue Cross/Blue Shield program will be effective January 1, 2001 as opposed to the August 1, 2000 target date previously mentioned. In addition to the plan design changes, the premium structure will also be modified. Effective July 1, 2000, the employer contribution will be increased 17.4% and effective August 1, 2000, the employee contribution will be increased by 15%. This will result in the institutions share becoming 77% of the total premium.
New Business
The 7th Annual University System of Georgia Staff Conference will be held at Polytechnic State University on October 5-6, 2000. Registration fee is $35.00 per person before September 15, 2000 after this date it will be $40.00. Any questions email prozier@valdosta.edu.
