The COSA meeting
was called to order at 8:35 AM.
Special Order of
the Day: Election of new executive officers for 1999-2000.

good luck for the upcoming year.
Approval of
Minutes: Shirley McClain was left out as being
present and the By-Laws were amended not rewritten with these corrections the
May 11th minutes were approved.

Committee Reports
a. Elections- No Report
b. Employee Recognition-
Sandra Denson reported that the forms for Employee of the Semester for spring
are out. Please make your choices and turn in your nominees
c. Policies Committee- The
new amended By-Laws were mailed to each COSA member.
d.
Welfare-
Hilda Spell reported that the pamphlets are printed and gave each member one.
Now we need to make a list of all the staff members that has retired and get in
touch with them about buying a brick for the Retirement Walkway. We need to
discuss some kind of fund riser to help fund the Walkway.
e.
Recycling- Tom Parnell reported that a lot of the
members that are faculty are on leave right now and
the committee will meet when
they return.
f. Salary Study- It
was voted by COSA to table this matter till the new board is in place as of July
1, 1999.
Reports from the
Chair: Holly Decker reported that she was
unable to attend the University System of Georgia Staff Council meeting that
took place in Macon on May
27, 1999.
Pat Rozier went instead. Pat reported
that the USGS Conference will have a Thursday, October 14,1999, night session
at 6:00 p.m. and
Friday, October 15,1999 will be the all day State
Conference in Milledgeville, Ga. The Statewide Council is
still trying to get other institutions to participate in the meetings. No new
info on the possible merger of the Merit and Board of Regents health insurance.
Blue Cross Insurance rates will go up 12% in August. The USGS Conference information
can be found at http:// www.gcsu.edu/staff.
Holly reported that
Tim Yorkey has resigned from COSA and
that the election committee will need to find a replacement in the EE05 Area he
represented. A diagram was given to each member to show the chain of command of
VSU.
Old Business
Holiday work- Held over till the
next meeting.
New Business
Pat Rozier and
Holly Decker were welcomed aboard.
Joe Hickey and
Hazel Hewett were given a certificate
for serving on COSA.
There being no
further discussion or business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:36
a.m.
and will meet again on July 13, 1999.
