Members present: Holly Decker, Hilda Spell, TR"Cat" Decker, John Anderson, Sammy Dees, Scott Doner, Ann Farmer, Ann Harris, Joe Hickey, Ann Lacey, Shirley McClain, Debi Parkhill, Tom Parnell, Ruth Salter, Beverly Sharpe, Gloria Tonsil, Tim Yorkey, Inman Grimsley

Members excused: Nina Windham, Sandra Denson, and Hazel Hewett

Member at large: Grady Pearl Everette, Pat Rozier, and Bill Filtz

The Council on Staff Affairs meeting was called to order at 8:32 A.M.

Special Order of the Day: Elections: John Anderson stated that he has sent letters out to department heads of the Business and Finance area, EEO-4 (secretarial/clerical) area, and EEO-7 (service maintenance) area, that are up for re-election, to help update their personnel listings for the upcoming election of new COSA members. Members' terms that are finished on COSA will be Holly Decker, Hazel Hewett, and Joe Hickey.

Approval of the Minutes: Debi Parkhill needed to be added to the January 12th minutes and than the minutes were approved.

Treasurer's Report- Nina Windham: No Report

 

Committee Reports

a. Employee Recognition- No report

b. Election- Special Order of the Day

c. Policy- Pat Rozier: Plans on having a meeting in the next few days to discuss the changes to the By-Laws.

 

 

 

 

d. Recycling- Bill Filtz and Tom Parnell talked about how they are working with the person that is picking up the recycling items to see what kind of time and manpower is needed to pick up all the recycling items on campus.

 

 

e. Retirement Walkway- Hilda Spell said that she talked to Jeff Snow about whether the amount of money that is given to the Retirement Walkway is tax deductible. If it's just given to the walkway fund it is, but if you buy a person a brick it's not. A committee is going to have to be set up to make sure who is eligible for a brick.

Report from the Chair

Holly Decker said that she had missed the last Administrative Council Meeting and highlighted some of the items from the January Meeting. Also Dr. Crowe e-mailed Holly saying he has all the material on the salary study and well start working on it sometime in March. Holly is going to be one of the jailbirds during the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation fund drive for Diabetes Education and Research on February 23, 1999 at 10:00 am in front of the Palms Dining Center.

Old Business

a. Holiday work- Nina Windham was not present to talk about this and it will be carried over to March's meeting.

New Business

a. Holly Decker, Sandra Denson, and Bill Filtz will be attending the University System of Georgia State Conference Meeting February 18, 1999 in Macon at 10:00 am.

There being no further discussion or business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:26 A.M. and will meet again on March 9, 1999.
