Creating Web Pages

Create and post your very own Web site on the Internet in this extensive, hands-on, six week workshop. First, you'll learn about the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the fundamentals of web design. Then, with your instructor's patient guidance, you'll plan the content, structure and layout of your Web site, create pages full of neatly formatted text, build links between the pages and to the outside world, and add color, backgrounds, graphics, tables, hot buttons, and animation. Designing Effective Websites

What makes an effective Web site? Page layout, navigation, aesthetics, color, typography, readability, graphics, multimedia, interactivity, and animation all play a part in creating a satisfying experience for your visitors. However, in order to create a durable Web site, you'll also need to how to structure your site so that you communicate your ideas clearly and in the most effective manner possible. 

This course will help you become familiar with good user interface design techniques that will allow your visitors to navigate your site with ease. You'll also understand how users read on the Web and the characteristics of effective Web writing. You'll learn important graphic design principles and how to use a variety of tools to enhance your pages.

Introduction to Perl Programming

Introduction to JSP Programming

Java Server Pages (JSP) technology is used to power many of today’s top Web sites. JSP makes it possible for you to harness the power of Java to create dynamic web pages that are both informative and interactive--even if you have minimal knowledge of the Java programming language itself.

In this course, you will learn how to embed server scripts directly into HTML pages, enhancing the functionality of your Web pages to include dynamic content generation, form processing, database access, and more.

Knowledge of JSP is vital to anyone interested in Web development. This course will prepare you to create JSP code, access data stored in a Web application or in a database, create and manage cookies, handle forms, display custom data, and more! (2.4 CEUs)

Microsoft FrontPage 2003 - Introduction

Have you been itching to build a Web site but don’t know where to start? If so, this is the course for you! In Introduction to FrontPage 2003, you'll learn the essentials of Microsoft’s popular Web site-building software.

You'll begin with an introduction to the basics of Web design and an exploration of the interface and features of the FrontPage program. Then, you'll learn how to manipulate text and graphics to create finished Web pages. Next, you'll find out how to create and manipulate tables to structure and organize your Web pages.

Introduction to Flash MX 2004

In this six-week online course, you'll learn how to use Flash MX 2004 through a series of easy-to-follow, hands-on activities. Macromedia Director MX 2004 - Introduction

Learn Macromedia Director MX 2004, the world’s leading multimedia production tool, to create sophisticated and compelling presentations for a wide range of situations and needs. Create high-impact applications for distribution on CDs, corporate intranets, kiosks, the Web, and more.

Combine text, graphics, audio, video, and animated elements to create dazzling interactive presentations, even if you're completely new to the world of multimedia and animation.

This six-week course is designed for beginners with little or no experience with graphic or animation programs. However, if you are already using PowerPoint, Flash, or HTML, you will learn skills for adding sparkle and impact to your existing projects.

You will learn powerful multimedia techniques such as how to add reliable audio playback to a Web page and how to prepare digital video for optimum playback. You'll learn how to sequence computer graphics to create basic animations and how to link Director productions to the Internet or compress them for playback in a Web browser.

The course will also cover how to add user feedback and other interactive capabilities. In the process, you’ll learn each of the four stages of a multimedia project: planning, prototyping, authoring and testing.
