Are your parents in their golden years? Learning how to help parents or other loved ones through their transition can prepare us for our own. This compassionate and comprehensive class will give you the tools, techniques, and insights for this passage. Growing older is a part of life. Some aspects are joyful, some bittersweet, some frustrating, some frightening.
You will learn what to expect, what to watch for, how to deal with physical and emotional challenges, and where to find resources to help. You'll understand the impact of retirement, learn how to choose a nursing home, and be prepared to deal with death. You'll learn about financial and legal considerations, health issues, and family interpersonal relationships.
You'll be introduced to special communication skills, observation methods, and coping mechanisms to ease the burden for everyone involved. You'll learn to handle most of the challenges you will face while coming to appreciate and cherish the privilege of the journey.

This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to promote wellness, balance and health in their daily lives. It will give students a basic understanding of the field of natural health. Students will discover how to create and maintain a naturally healthy lifestyle and a healing environment. Students will explore areas of natural health to include

Medical Terminology: A Word Association Approach
This course teaches medical terminology from an anatomical approach. Root terms are divided by each body system. The origin, a combined form, and an example of non-medical everyday usage is provided for each root term. Word Associations are provided as a learning tool. Unusual and interesting information is provided in regards to each term. Root terms are combined with prefixes and suffixes as your learning will culminate in the interpretation of several paragraphs of medical notes.

Certificate Programs: Format and Overview
Allegra Accredited Certificate Programs
The health care certificate programs we offer are all available online so that you may access them at your convenience 24/7.
Each program 7-8 courses, generally representing 21 - 26 contact hours. After completing the orientation process, you will have access to all courses required for that particular program. You may take the courses in any order. You will have access to the courses for a period of six weeks. To fulfill certification requirements you must complete the final exam(s) associated with each program.
The certificate programs, were developed specifically by ALLEGRA Learning Solutions, LLC for continuing education programs. The courses have been accredited by American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This accreditation is accepted in all U.S. states except Iowa. These courses will fulfill continuing education requirements for many types of health care professionals.
Requirements: Internet access, E-mail, Netscape or Internet Explorer Web browser. Programs must be completed within six weeks of the start date.
