Workplace Skills Certificate Program

he Workplace Skills Certificate Program is designed for individuals who want to establish proficiencies in basic computer and workplace skills for the job market. Students attempting this certificate need not apply ahead of time as registration is by course.

To earn the certificate you must:

  • · Successfully complete all required and elective courses* within 18 months (minimum of 48 hours.)
  • · Maintain a 75% grade average or better throughout the program. (Additional attendance requirements apply.)
  • · Request and fill out an Application for Certificate and submit it to VSU Continuing Education to receive your certificate.

*Please note that not all classes are offered every semester. New classes are routinely added to elective offerings
and some courses may not be offered every term. Courses in red below are being offered during the Fall 2011 semester.

Required courses
Complete all

  • Fundamentals of Office Computing (6 hours)
  • Introduction to Word (6 hours)
  • Introduction to Excel (6 hours)

Elective Group I
Choose two:

  • Introduction to PowerPoint (3 hours)
  • File Management Basics (3 hours)
  • Introduction to Adobe PDF (3 hours)
  • Fundamentals of Time Management (3 hours)
  • Access Overview (4 hours)
  • Better Business Writing (4 hours)
  • Business and Professional Communication (7.5)

Elective Group II (Online) – Choose one:

Students need not be part of the certificate program to enroll in digital photography classes
