Hometown Press Releases
Valdosta State proudly boasts the accomplishments of its students by submitting press releases to hometown newspapers. Press releases regarding awards, scholarships, research efforts, campus or community involvement, and other noteworthy accomplishments are sent to the local paper(s) of your choice and include the student’s name, hometown and high school. Individuals are asked to complete an online form, which grants permission for VSU to release information to the media, before a hometown release can be written.
dean's list and graduates
Students earning the academic designation of dean's list and those who have met all requirements for graduation are pubilshed online approximately 1-2 months following the end of each semester. Links to these lists are sent to newspapers based on the home county listed for the student in Banner, VSU's student information system. Both lists are sorted by state and grouped by county; names are listed alphabetically within county groupings. Students who believe they are listed within the incorrect county grouping should verify their permanent address in Banner before contacting the Communications Unit at news@valdosta.edu.
