Internships:
Each area of the Department of Communication Arts(Mass Media, Speech Communication, and Theatre) offers credit for internships in the student's senior year of study.
These courses allow for three, six, or nine hours of credit depending on the time commitment between the student and the internship placement organization.
The Speech Communication Area also offers a three-hour Junior-level internship. Internship hours would be counted in the student's guided elective hours, so a student who wishes to take an internship in his or her senior year should plan ahead so he or she has room in the electives area to accommodate these hours.
It is the student's obligation to arrange for the internship and to negotiate with the host organization. Student's interested in internships should first contact the Internship Coordinator for the area to learn of requirements and procedures.
