Consciousness Research Lab
Housed within the Department of Psychology and Counseling in the Dewar College of Education, the Consciousness Research Lab takes an innovative approach to studying levels of consciousness. Led by Dr. Jules Troyer, the lab team is comprised of trained and skilled researchers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Up until the development of the Troyer Level of Consciousness Inventory (TLOCI), no instruments to measure levels of consciousness had been validated in normally functioning individuals. One may find various perspectives on defining consciousness, as well as levels of consciousness; therefore, for our research purposes, consciousness is understood to be the facility for accessing, coordinating, and disseminating information in conjunction with engaging in global regulation and control.
Our research aims to expand our knowledge of human consciousness and identify what factors influence changes to occur to an individual’s level of consciousness. For more information, check out our “Get Involved” and “Current Studies” pages or email us at email@example.com
