Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)

AP words

The Center for Gifted Studies collaborates with numerous individuals on and off campus in order to offer a successful College Board approved AP Institute each summer at Valdosta State University.  The overall goal of the Institute is to be a benefit to teachers, students, and families by providing high quality instruction which will improve the way AP courses are taught at the secondary level.

The Institute started in summer 2008. Summer 2013 will be our 6th annual Institute.  Through that experience, we have learned much about how to help teachers be successful.  We attempt to continuously improve by taking what the teachers tell us about the training seriously, and then applying that information.  We recruit top quality instructors to teach each AP Summer Institute class and keep the courses small so that the teachers have the opportunity to leave the training with all of their questions answered and lots of new ideas for their classrooms in the upcoming school year.
