Teaching is one of the most important, yet challenging, professions in our society. The beginning years of teaching are a special time in a teacher's career.  Even after participating in student teaching, everything is new to the first year teacher.

Challenging questions of beginning teachers can include how to arrange the classroom, where to put the desks, what is done on the first day of school and the rest of the school year, who the students will be and what will their families be like, and what backgrounds and interests will students bring to the classroom. (What New Teachers Need to Learn, Sharon Feiman-Nemser, Educational Leadership, May 2003, Vol. 60, Issue 6, pp. 25-29)

All new teachers need some level of induction, mentoring, and support. All new teachers need mentoring at the appropriate level according to system requirements. In this section new teachers will find various resources that will provide support as they begin their journey into the teaching profession.

"Don't isolate yourself from your colleagues. Instead, find ways to get needed support. No one expects you to know or accomplish everything on your own!"
