The Masters of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Adult and Career Education is designed for students who are interested in the field of instructional systems design and training in an industrial or corporate setting.
The focus of the M.Ed. program, with an option in Training and Development, is on instructional design related especially to the improvement of human performance through the design, delivery, and evaluation of workplace training. Computer-assisted instruction as well as on-site delivery models are emphasized.
Admission Requirements for the M.Ed. Program
Students are admitted to the M.Ed. program by the VSU Graduate School. (See the current VSU Graduate Catalog for specific admission criteria). A student may take up to 9 hours of graduate work while classified as an "Irregular" student. NO MORE than 9 hours of graduate work taken before the student has achieved "Regular" admission status will be counted toward the M.Ed. degree. Students are responsible for obtaining approval from his/her advisor before registering for a course. NO MORE than 6 semester hours of graduate coursework will be accepted by transfer from another institution to Valdosta State University.
Graduation Requirements for the M.Ed. Program
For most students, the total number of semester hours of coursework to be completed is 36. Students must see their advisor in order to complete their application for graduation at least one semester prior to the semester they intend to graduate. Coursework taken more than seven years prior to the semester of degree completion cannot be used to meet graduate degree requirements. A written, comprehensive examination is required at the completion of the program (specific information about the exam format, topics covered, evaluation, etc., may be obtained from the advisor).
