Undergraduate Degree Programs
The Valdosta State University Department of Music offers three degree programs for prospective undergraduate piano majors:
The Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance is designed for students who are considering a career in piano performance. Piano performance majors receive two fifty-minute lessons a week and are required to perform a junior and senior recital. Performing opportunities include studio class, studio recitals, student recitals, guest master classes, state piano competitions, and the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.
The Bachelor of Arts is a liberal arts program that allows for a minor in another area of interest outside of music. Recent BA majors have gone on to graduate degrees in music performance, music therapy, medical school, law, and business. Bachelor of Arts piano majors receive one fifty-minute lesson a week and are required to perform a senior recital. Performing opportunities are similar to the BM in performance.
