  • For an acting audition, the applicant should prepare two monologues of a contrasting nature (one serious, one comic; one period, one contemporary, etc.) no longer than two minutes in length a piece.  The applicant has a total of four minutes.
  • For a technical interview, the applicant should prepare a portfolio of their work to date to exhibit.  Each applicant will be given five minutes to discuss the contents of the portfolio.
  • AN AUDITION IS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO THE MUSICAL THEATRE EMPHASIS.  For a musical theatre audition, auditionees should prepare one monologue and thirty two bars from two separate musical pieces of contrasting nature (one up tempo/one ballad; one classical/one from musical theatre repertoire, etc.).  The presentation of the monologue and the two musical selections should not exceed three minutes.  An accompanist will be provided.  Singing a capella or to taped accompaniment is not allowed.  Sheet music must be provided for the accompanist. Auditionees will also be expected to participate in a dance audition.  Participants should bring appropriate dancewear and footwear.  Time will be allotted for changing clothes.  The required application is enclosed for those auditioning for this emphasis who are not seeking scholarship consideration.  If an applicant wishes to audition for admission to the musical theatre emphasis and scholarship consideration both the admission and scholarship forms must be returned.
  • Each applicant will be interviewed in addition to the audition or presentation and should be prepared to discuss career goals.  The interview will also provide an opportunity for the applicant to ask any questions he or she may have concerning the theatre program.

BFA in Dance Admission and/or Scholarship Audition
