Peach State Summer Theatre is Valdosta’s premiere professional summer stock theatre! Each summer, a company of some 60 actor-singers, dancers, technicians, managers, and creators will reside in Valdosta for a ten-week season. During that time, they will rehearse, build and present three musicals in rotating repertory.
From 1990 to 2004, VSU produced the Jekyll Island Musical Theatre Festival in the Jekyll Island Amphitheater, located in the Historic District of the island. During that time, thousands of people from across the country enjoyed the best of musical theatre entertainment.
In 2005, the summer theatre was relocated to the campus of Valdosta State University.In 2006, Peach State Summer Theatre was designated the Official Musical Theatre of the State of Georgia by the Georgia Legislature. In 2010, PSST! celebrated the 20th Anniversary Season of professional summer musical theatre produced by Valdosta State University. PSST! received an Arts Education in American Communities Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
PSST!'s Mission is to provide quality theatre to the city of Valdosta, the state of Georgia, the region and beyond. Peach State Summer Theatre is committed to helping make Valdosta and South Georgia a tourist destination. Peach State Summer Theatre is committed to promoting the importance of education to people of all ages and serves as the professional extension of the Valdosta State University Theatre program.
