Welcome to the Math/CS Department
On behalf of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department, we welcome you to Valdosta State University. Our department is currently home to 41 faculty members in the fields of computer science, mathematics, and mathematics education as well as 350 undergraduate students majoring in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, and applied mathematics.
Our department seeks to provide an excellent learning experience for students which informs and empowers individuals in the areas of computing and mathematics. In addition to classroom learning experiences, students can conduct undergraduate research with faculty and join the student chapters of the Mathematical Association of America or the Association for Computing Machinery.
Our faculty and staff are dedicated to student success. In addition, our faculty members conduct research in the areas of computing, mathematics, and mathematics education. We serve our discipline professionally at the national, state, and local level. Also, we have strong outreach programs to area grade k-12 students, such as Science Saturday, our middle school and high school math tournaments, Camp Invention, and summer computing camps. Our outreach also provides learning through service opportunities for our students.
We encourage you to explore our web site to discover more about our programs, students, faculty, research, and service. If you have any questions as a prospective or current student, please don’t hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
