Dear Potential Field Experience Supervisor:

Thank you for your interest in supervising a student intern during his/her field experience. The Athletic Training faculty is always happy to consider additional sites. Each supervisor must have at least two years of experience as a certified atheltic trainer.

We place approximately 16 students in field experiences each spring. The field experience is a senior capstone requirement completed in the final semester of coursework. You can click to view  the site information form, the syllabus, and a copy of the contractual agreement (this is for informational purposes only; it is completed once a student is placed). Here are samples of the student evaluation forms.  My suggestion is to comprehensively fill out the site information form. We have 50+ potential sites and on average only 16 students. Certainly there are instances in which a student is placed at the field experience site solely due to location, but most of the time the decision is based on the type and variety of experiences available at the site.

The field experience commences and concludes with the Valdosta State University Spring semester calendar. We believe in giving the field experience supervisor (you) freedom to assign duties and responsibilities due to the inherent differences in athletic training settings. However, we ask that you do provide supervision and educational experiences that will enhance the student’s preparation for the BOC exam and future professional practice. Each supervisor must have at least two years of experience as a certified atheltic trainer.

Sincerely,

Lori Howard
