Ms. Joy Lorraine Botting Receives
The Georgia Power New Teacher Award

Ms. Joy Botting received the Georgia Power New Teacher Award for the 2007-2008 school year. The Georgia Power's New Teacher Assistance Grant program rewards Georgia's outstanding beginning teachers for choosing teaching as their profession and to encourage them in their first year in the classroom.
Each year $1,000 grants are awarded by Georgia Power to graduates from Georgia colleges and universities and who have fulfilled the requirements for an education major and have secured employment as a first year teacher with an accredited public school in Georgia. The grants are designed to provide the recipient with funds to purchase supplies for their classrooms beyond those provided by the school budget.
A winner is selected from each of Georgia's 17 public four-year colleges and universities with a state approved teacher education program. Ms. Botting is the winner for the Valdosta State University teacher educational program. Ms. Joy Botting is a Spring Semester 2007 graduate in Early Childhood Education. This school year Ms. Botting will be teaching 3rd grade at North Brooks Elementary School.
