Students Logging On to Pipeline/BlazeNet for the first time

Most graduate students have interfaced with “Banner” when registering, so you should be familiar with your student ID and PIN number. Remember that your ID is your student number while PIN is your six digit birthdate (MM/DD/YY)

  • In IE or Netscape open the VSU HomePage
  • Click on Banner (lower left) and go to Banner Login page,
  • On Login page enter your User ID and PIN
  • On the Main Menu page click on “Personal Information”
  • On the Personal Information page click on “View Email Addresses”
  • On View E-mail Addresses page find your VSU email address (Preferred). Note that the word (usually initials+last name) before the @ sign is your BlazeNet login (user name), and that the PIN serves as your password.
  • While still on the View E-mail Addresses page, click on the BlazeNet link above your email address and log in to BlazeNet using your new login (user name) and old PIN.
  • If you wish to change your password for BlazeNet click on My Account in the upper left hand corner of the BlazeNet screen. This will take you to the My Account Preferences page. Simply follow directions to change the PIN password to something else.
  • Be sure to click the Save Changes button on the Preferences page when you have changed your password.
  • Click the Back to Campus Life tab (upper left hand corner of screen) to return to the BlazeNet Home Page

You may want to explore the functions and capabilities of BlazeNet. The Campus Information box under the Campus Life tab and the Academic Resources tab are useful. Logout (upper right hand corner) when you are finished. You can check to make sure everything works by sending an email to your instructor from your new BlazeNet address.

You can also link your BlazeNet address to Outlook, Eudora, and Netscape Mail. Instructions for this (with accompanying screen shots) are found at the Academic Resources tab on BlazeNet’s Home Page. Click on the tab, scroll down to Computers/IT and click on Email. You will find directions for connecting to Outlook, Eudora, and Netscape Mail. This will allow you to receive messages directed to you on your favorite mail program.
