Ed.S. Degree in Instructional Technology
Admission Requirements
Admission to the program is handled through the VSU Graduate School.
Minimum admission requirements:
- The applicant must have completed a Master's Degree at an accredited or approved institution.
- A grade-point average of at least 3.00 on all previous graduate work attempted is required.
- A Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of at least 850 (verbal portion with a minimum of 400 plus either quantitative or analytical portion with a 4.0 minimum.) or an MAT score of at least 36 (old scoring) or 390 (new scoring).
- The applicant should submit an essay (maximum 1500 words) that clearly communicates the following:
- An articulation of applicant career goals that would be served by completion of the EDS in Instructional Technology
- A description of applicant instructional technology skills* and availability of adequate Internet access and computing equipment
- A description of applicant instructional technology related accomplishments
- A persuasive argument outlining the strengths that the applicant would bring to the EDS program, peers, and professors.
- Only "Regular" admission status is to be used for entry to an Education Specialist Program; graduate work taken prior to admission to an Education Specialist Program will not be counted toward the degree requirements.
- Three years teaching or related experience required.
- Deadlines for receipt of applications are March 15 for fall admission and November 15 for spring admission. Two admission sessions are not guaranteed to be offered each year.
*Program Definition: Instructional technology is the theory and practice of the design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of the processes and resources for learning.
