Teacher preparation Programs check list for Transfer students
Transfer students with an Associates degree will be subject to the following:
If you graduated from a University system school with an Associates in Education, Areas A-F are satisfied. You must make sure you have or complete the following:
- GPA needed for major*
- Additional KSPE 6 hours
- GACE Basic Skills Assessment
- 2999 class
If you graduated from a University system school with an Associates degree not in education, Areas A-E are satisfied. You must make sure you have or complete the following:
- GPA needed for major*
- Additional KSPE 6 hours
- GACE Basic Skills Assessment
- Area F
- 2999 class
If you graduated from a non-university system school with an Associates degree, you must make sure you have or complete the following:
- GPA needed for major*
- Additional KSPE 6 hours
- GACE Basic Skills Assessment
- Regents'
- Check all areas A-F of core
- Check legislative requirements
- 2999 class
Transfer students without an Associates degree will be subject to the following:
Transfer students without an associates within a University system school with Areas A, B, C, D, or E complete at sending institution will be considered complete at VSU.
Transfer students without an associates from a non-university system school will need all areas of core evaluated.
Additional Rules
Transfer students from within the University system are subject to the 45 hour rule for Regents' Test. Please refer to page 78 of the VSU 2008-2009 catalog
Transfer students from a non-university system school will have 2 semesters to complete the Regents' exam.
Transfer students must meet State of Georgia Legislative requirements or complete an exemption test. Please refer to page 80 of the VSU 2008-2009 catalog.
*Valdosta State University does not have a forgiveness policy on GPA. If you transfer from an institution that uses the forgiveness policy, your VSU GPA may be lower than the GPA at the institution that you attended.
