Types of Appeals

Appealing denial for admission into the College of Education programs or acceptance for student teaching

Students who wish to appeal their denial for admission into the College of Education programs or acceptance for student teaching may submit an appeal to the Undergraduate and Initial Preparation Policies Committee. This committee meets once a month.  The committee reviews student appeals during the meetings and provides a written notice by the following day of the committee's decision.. The student’s appeal, any supporting documentation, and a copy of the letter is placed in the student’s advising file.  Students should pick up an appeal form in room 2036 in the James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education or click here for the appeal form.

Appealing a "hold" on registration for Regents’ exam

Students wishing to appeal this “hold” should contact the department head of their major.  If the department head approves removal of the hold, an email will be sent to the dean who will then send an email to Academic Affairs to request removal of the hold. If the department head denies the appeal to remove the hold, the appeal will go no further.
