Joint Degree Program (AAS)

Program of Study

The Associate of Applied Science degree is a "two-year" college degree that combines academic courses with technical courses. Students complete the technical portion of their program at a selected Georgia technical college and complete academic course requirements at VSU.

Valdosta State University offers an AAS degree in cooperation with the following technical college in Georgia:

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College

The AAS degree is offered with a major in health, services, business, and technology. Contact Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to learn about the programs of study available in any of these areas.

  AAS Degree Requirements

To receive the Associate of Applied Science degree at VSU, students must complete an approved program of study at Wiregrass Georgia Technical college and academic courses at VSU. 

Other technical colleges in Georgia offer programs that lead to the AAS degree at various colleges and universities throughout the state. Contact the technical colleges directly to inquire about cooperative AAS degree programs offered there.
Course Requirements

ENGLISH 1101 - English Composition I . . . 3 hours

ENGLISH 1102 - English Composition II . . . 3 hours

MATH 1101 or MATH 1111 - Mathematical Modeling or College Algebra . . . 3 hours 

SCIENCE I & II - Science Electives (see core curriculum for specific courses) . . . 8 hours

POLITICAL SCIENCE 1101 - American Government I . . . 3 hours

HISTORY 2111 or 2112 - United States History I or United States History II. . . 3 hours

Elective . . .1 hour

Total Semester Hours of Academic Courses Required for AAS Degree . . .24 hours

Of these 24 hours, 21 MUST be completed in residence at VSU.  Student must also complete an APPROVED technical college program of study.
